7.12.18 Reported Issues (READ BEFORE UPDATING)
by Mr-Mavrik on Wed Dec 02, 2009 6:35 am IP:
The following are a list of issues reported by users here on the forum for EFi-X V1.1 firmware version 7.12.18:
- Shutdown & Restart does not work in Leopard or Snow Leopard. No restart is most common, but shutting down is reported to work occasionally for some users. This bug is not present on all motherboards. It is most common on Gigabyte boards. This is a known issue by the team and a fix is being developed.
- Sleep working on a limited bases or not at all. This is a known issue and a fix is being developed.
- On some systems, in the System Profiler under the Memory category an error message is displayed. This occurs in both 10.5 and 10.6. This is known by the team and because it is not present on all systems they are looking into why it is occuring. More info coming soon.
- Some users are reporting that their PCI slots are no longer functioning. PCIe slots are still functioning normally and are not an issue.
- ATI Video Cards, specifically the newer models (4870, 4850, and 4670) do not work with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Until more information comes from the team please use Nvidia based cards. More information to come.
- Dual Video Cards causes kernel panic. Known issue by the team and they are working on an updated video driver to allow multiple video cards. NO ETA at this point.
If you have anything to add specifically regarding 7.12.18 please pm me directly

How to update the firmware on your EFi-X?
Step 1: Download the latest Control Center from here. Note: The Control Center is only for OS X. There is no Windows Control Center.
Step 2: Install the Control Center by double clicking the downloaded file. An icon will appear in the System Preferences panel. Note: If you already have an older Control Center installed you must first remove the old one before installing the new one. To do so, right click or control click on the Control Center icon and remove.
Step 3: Open the EFi-X Control Center in your System Preferences panel by clicking on the icon. Your EFi-X information should be displayed including version number, serial number, and current firmware installed on your EFi-X. To update, click "Update". A screen will be displayed with general warnings and information from ASEM. Click "OK" to agree. If there is an newer firmware available then it will automatically download and install. Note: If your firmware is up to date you will get a message telling you "No New Update Found"
Step 4: Once your device is fully updated you will see a message showing 100% and "Complete". Once it is complete, shutdown your computer.
Step 5: Unplug your computer, reset the CMOS, plug your computer back in and turn it back on. Go into the bios and change all settings back to default. Restart your computer and adjust bios settings for the EFi-X.

I am trying to update my efix firmware, I can go online but when I click "update: I get this error message "error: Can't Connect to Update Server !" is there anything wrong with my system, or my efix usb dongle?
If you can't connect to update server, it means the update server is down, we suggest you try later, as we do not have any control over the efix firmware update server; the server is control by efix manufacturer. if you can go online, then there is nothing wrong with your system or the efix usb unit, as your system has INTERNET access, in order to update efix firmware you must be connected to INTERNET. Please make sure you have the most updated "efix update control center" as only cureent version will allow you to connect to update firmware server. below is the link to ASEM's firmware update page. you may also download the "efix update control center" from our Quick Start Guide "latest efix firmware update" link.

Is There any other-way I can update efix firmware beside using "efix update control center"?
There are few ways you can update your efix firmware, the best way is to use the "EFiX Update control Center"; please note only update your efix firmware if updating the known firmware will fix a known issue/s for you. if not we highly suggest not to update efix firmware, firmware should be treated with caution. 2nd way to update the firmware is to send to efix manufacture or send to efix authorized reseller or distributor. you may download the efix "updated control center from our site or efix manufacturer site. we wil have those link below. Please make sure you have the most updated control center as only the most updated version will be able to update the efix firmware, previous version will give "can't connect to update server" or other message, if you have the most updated control center and still getting the message "can't connect to the update server" it usually means efix manufacture is working on the server; only efix manufacture has the access to update firmware server. We ship with most updated frimware to date shipped.
